| from growers i've spoken to, clear pots arent really necassary. Mass producers use them because they can give a 20% boost in growth rate in the environment they grow them in, but in the home they dont make much difference. also, you can get algae growing on the inside of the pot which aint too good. |

| I tried every available type of pot and I can manage all of them - but I appreciate more and more the clear pots! Gives me the most comprehensive information about what is going on inside. The condense layer on the inner surface inform you that inside is moist yet, even though the top of the medium is dry...You can see any time the roots (what takes away the permanent stress of a newbie Algae does not harm anything.

| You find less and less of the clear pots because they break down badly in sun light. Their life span is 1/4 the dark plastics.

| Thanks for your input everyone. I much prefer the clear plastic pots so I can keep an eye on the root system and the watering needs. All my plastic pots, clear or dark, are nested inside terra cotta pots. It fits in to the overall esthetic of my atrium. So, any recommended suppliers? |

| I too like clear pots because I can see how the roots are doing as well as help me determine the orchid's watering needs. I also like clay pots for certain types of orchids like cattleyas. I purchased most of my clear plastic pots from http://www.orchid-supplies.com/clear_pots.html. They have great prices! I purchased some aircone pots from http://www.tindaraorchids.com/index_...ne.htm~rbottom. I was very happy with both my purchases. Good luck in your quest for finding a supplier! |

| I like the clear pots to be able to see if the plant needs to be watered but I have nto switched to them emasse because they are more expensive than regular pots and I'm a bit cheap about such things. |
