New spike

So I have alot of phals spiking right now, and I noticed this one has some buds starting and what looks it is going to branch off!! I have never had whole new spikes grow from the crown and then keep on going and make some branches!! I am so excited!!

This what it looked like last spring.

New spikes are so exciting. I showed my man and he just rolled his eyes at me. He said I get happy over anything new on my plants... He thinks I'm silly. LOL

Very exciting, 'tis the season! Now begins the excruciating part, waiting for the blooms. It is almost like that plant is saying "Yeah, I know I am beautiful, that's why you have to wait for me."

What a lovely flower as well, is it named?

Justin

Out of all 16 of my orchids only one of them is named. This one did not come with a tag.

Pity, I would have added this one to my wish list if it was named, can't really track one down without a name.

Named or not, it's a beauty!

I get excited over new spikes too. I look at my phals a couple times a day checking for anything new. One of mine bloomed recently on a secondary spike and I am over the moon.

not trying to bust the parade here, but is that a terminal spike? Just curious for my own learning.

Very nice! To me ALL new growth is exciting. A spike is really nice, though. I've been surprised with the start of a spike on one of my Phal stuartiana 'Sogo' plants yesterday. I'm really happy, because this one has been limping along since I got it last June, and I figured it would be going the way of so many of my other Phals
The vendor told me the stuartianas tried to bloom themselves to death last winter in his greenhouse, so this is a triumph for me.
Cheers,
Tony

Terminal is coming right out the top middle of the crown. This one is growing out of the side at the bottom. I have never had a terminal spike, and I hope I never do!!

@ Otis
I have a guy thats limping along too. Was my 91 year old great grandma's. Its slowly coming back and hers was a bloom freak too. New spikes rock!!
