Phal variety with most flowers?

I told myself I am not allowed to get any more plants unless I kill some, but I can't help but get one more.

What phal variety typically produces the most flowers when they bloom?

I know Phal. celebensis can have a 5' inflorescense, with several branches, and around 20-50 blooms on each branch. Of course, this was from a mature plant. But, as I know its related to equestris, it should stay smaller.

That's a new one on me! I've never seen a 5' spike on any celebensis.

sorry Cody...I had to remove the link. No linking to other forums allowed.

While I was there...I did look and I saw what you were talking about. I couldn't tell if the spike was actually 5' long so...well... I've just never heard of a celebensis w/that long of a spike but I'm not an expert on it either. If it truly is 5'...WOW!

If anyone else wants to see the pic...just PM Cody for the link.

Ooops! Sorry about that. I was wondering if I was allowed to do that, but I was on my phone leaving the house, so I didn't have the time to check. At least now I know for future reference.

I know I am still amazed by Ron's Phal. schilleriana, it is inspirational to us all. As far as Phal. celebensis is concerned, I am hoping mine lives, let alone produce a 5 foot long spike!

My celebensis has never produced spikes as long as the one on Big Leaf but it blooms forever. Each spike has multiple branches, starts in mid summer and is still blooming. The foliage is gorgeous and when you feel the foliage the texture is different than any other Phal I have.

Two other Phals which produce tons of blooms are the chibae and either of the deliciosa. Both of these are small growers, the blooms are also small but are bud builders which produce hundreds of blooms per spike and they also branch freely.

If you want something with a really long spike, my schilleriana spike is over 4' long and gets very heavy when in bloom. Mine is mounted and the length and weight snapped the spike off three years ago.

Wow, that is both tragic and kind of awesome at the same time.

Wow - I thought I had enough Phals (17 noids), but I will certainly make room for something like that!
