A lot is going on here

Apparently, many of my chids changed their mind and decided to bloom, there are many new spikes as re-blooms for me, but few spikes I was not sure I'll ever see....
Well, I posted my masdie flower. Since then, there are two more spikes that bloomed!

One more really stubborn one is showing buds inside the sheath - Lc. C.G. Robeling 'Sentinel'. I think Synda has one too. I wonder if she managed to bloom hers. With this one, I think the plant needs to get into a size of the monster for it to bloom. I couldn't even find the pot for all it's roots, so I had to make my own pot.....

And finally the Tolumnia!!!!! This is my first spike!!!!

That's where they are coming from........now I know.........

Congrats. I just got a new baby leaf on my Tolumnia, and I thinking at least I haven't killed it- yet. I hope I get to see a spike on mine in the future.

Nice going... I'm going to drag all my Catts that have been teasing me with empty sheaths for months in front of the screen for inspiration! Is that a hanger made of twist ties? Very ingenious, and so me
Best,
Tony

Thanks, I find Tolumnia not super easy to bloom. I wish you'll have easier time blooming yours. Then you'll have to tell me how you are doing it....

I know what you are going through, Tony... I went and counted...This is the 8th growth and the 3rd sheath since I bought this Catt that is FINALLY going to bloom.....
I have a roll of these ties, so I can get any length I need. Great for smaller pots......

hmmm, i can't get my tolumnia to bloom for anything. but judging from the color of the leaves on yours, maybe mine needs more light. i'll put something underneath it to raise it up a bit and see if that helps.

I just got Lc. C.G. Robeling 'Sentinel', I am really looking forward to see yours in bloom..will give me something to look forward to with mine.
I have several tolumnia, and when I first got them and one turned that color I thought I was killing it, moved it away from the light, where it did not do well...moved it back...purple again, and growing well, no spikes now...though..
Great job

You are correct, I have the Roebling 'Sentinel' and have not bloomed it yet. It has 2 new growths which have grown larger than previous growths, but I don't see any signs for spiking. I've had it now somewhere in the 2-3 year range and got it as a seedling. So hopefully next new growths I'll see a bloom.

Boy, this is my experience, too! The leaves on my little Tolumnia Jairak Rainbow 'Easter Sunday' started turning reddish, so I moved it back from the window. It's going right back there now!

I hope next is the blooming growth for you, Synda. Just to let you know, mine has 10-14 growths all together (I am at work, so I can't count them here...), and it's a very big plant. I'll post a picture of the bloom and the plant when and if it blooms for me.

I keep all my Tolumnias "smashed" against the South facing window....., as long as they don't get burned. They like it to be very brigth and hot according to the info I've read. I don't know how much they are going to like our freezing temps sitting next to the glass, we will see.
This one is one of the largest Tolumnias I have, so I hope the other ones will get an idea by looking at this blooming one...........
