Dendrobium rosellum

Recently I bought Dendrobium rosellum in action. I was always a fan of flat fan shaped Den's. Now that I got it I realised I haven't got a clue how to look after it. It seems to loose these tiny leaves no matter if I keep it dry or wet. A few places on the web mentioned it needs to be in a low light some say in a very intense light. Does anyone have any suggestions what this particular Dendrobium prefers to grow and flower happily?

Hi, I'm not familiar with this one but you mentioned checking the web. Did you check the AOS culture sheets for Dendrobium yet ? They have 3 catagorys dens fall under on there and list some names of dens under each. I'm wondering if this one is decidious or semi decidious as to why leaf loss I have a few that are and some require a winter rest also if you haven't check the AOS culture sheets yet there is a link in the forum catagorys for it here on this site keep us posted if you find anyyhing that way interested to know. I'd post the linkbut can't from my phone (need to type it all in manually and I don't know all the charaters to make the link)
Good luck!

I looked it up in Baker and Baker.

Temps, night average - June 72F, December 73F
Temps, day average - June 89F, December 82F

Rainfall in inches - June 5.1, December 24.3

Light - 2000 - 3000 fc. direct sun should be avoided.

Water - Rainfall is heavy to very heavy all year. Cultivated plants should be kept moist, but the medium should not be soggy.

Rest Period - Growing conditions should be maintained all year.

Good luck with it.

I can't find Den. rosellum in the book about den species that I have.
The only thing I could find is that it belongs to a Section Aporum. Dens in this section all have flattened leaves. Aporum rosellum is this den's synonym.
Maybe someone who has Baker & Baker book and spot your post will be able to find some culture tips for you, or you can check if libraries in you area have B & B book available.

Ha, Renee has B & B book, ....good to know....
I guess Renee and I were replying at the same time.....
