Oncidium Heaven Scent 'Redolence'

Does anybody here grow this Oncidium? It is supposedly a selection of Sharry Baby. Thanks.

I'm growing Heaven Scent 'Sweet Pea'. It hasn't bloomed for me yet, but is supposed to have fragrant red blooms.

They do smell good. In August I was on my front porch watering and I smelled chocolate, It had bloomed and I didn't even know until it opened!

I also grow this one and it's currently in spike, very similar scent to that of a Sharry B.

What conditions were you using in growing yours. Just a newbie asking a lot of questions.

Thanks

About three years ago there were several Sharry Baby hybrids on the market.

Heaven Scent was my favorite. It is (Onc. Ruffles x Onc. Sharry Baby).

I have had hundreds of them and what I like is that they are shorter than Sharry Baby. The flowers are a little smaller but it usually makes up for this with multiple spikes. The hybrid is more resistant to the spotting we get with Sharry Baby leaves.

Other than that there is no real difference. The scent is about the same and the care is exactly the same. A large mature plant will flower for us twice a year the same as does Sharry Baby.

By the way the plant has never been awarded so the cultivar names are only the growers names.

Mine was growing 62-63 deg by night, 68-72 by day. I used rain water once every 6-8 days. It is doing amazing in these conditions. It has 5 new pbulbs starting to grow already. I think the next time it flowers it should have multiple spikes!
