| Cynthia I am sorry to hear that you wont be on the Forum as much. I think your Knowladge is a great asset to the forum and I honestly hope that the summer flys so you will be back asap. I can fully undrestand that the orchids come first and 700 orchids is alot to re-pot. Just may be you will find a little time at night to see whats going on with the forum Good luck with all the repotting and I hope that you will be back with us realy soon. Happy Growing ![]() |

| Most people think I'm a it 'touched' when I say things like this but, if I could, I'd pop over and be happy to help out. I actually don't mind repotting and if there's someone to help, the conversation is pleasant and time flies by. Scientists need to get to work on inventing one of those Star Trek transporters so I can just beam places. It would kill the airline industry but that's ok, it ain't that great anyway. |

| Cynthia you ARE going to be busy, aren't you ? I will ONLY have 30 to do at the end of the season. ![]() BTW Cynthia we have had continuous rain, non stop since 5 am Thursday and it is now Saturday evening. Our front and back yards are flooded, both rain water tanks are overflowing, lawns have gone from brown to green. My cyms have started to shoot in that time........life is good again. I'll be in touch to keep you up to date. Oh, also my Phal has 5 large roots now since putting the rooting powder on it 2 weeks ago. Now, off you go and do your "chores" and with a bit of luck you'll be finished by Fall. ![]()

| Anton you said you put rooting powder on your phal, what type, as I have a small phal that needs some help with roots!!! Thanks Cindy Ps Cynthia we will miss you, I will come and help you repot if you would like!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| Whoops, edited this message, I misunderstood, sorry. You meant what type of powder, NOT what type of Phal, sorry.....DOH! I will check it tomorrow and let you know. I actually have both liquid and powder, not sure when to use the liquid, but nothing to lose. I have used the powder on a reed Epi, some Den kingianum keikis and the Phal. All are producing roots. My Phal lost its roots from rot from a too fine coir/perlite mix which retained too much moisture as my Phal is inside and doesn't dry out quite as quickly as it did when it was in a medium bark mix. You never stop learning, trouble is, it is usually from mistakes. Hence my need for the rooting powder to quickly promote root growth to try to get some moisture into the plant to try to save it. It's not looking too healthy at present, so fingers crossed. This afternoon I had a look and saw 5 large roots forming at around 1/8 to 1/4 inch in length, 2 weeks ago prior to root powder it only had 2 "root buds".

| flowerchild: I am sorry to barge in. May be you are looking for a powdered form. If a liquid form is OK with you, many garden centres carry "wilson"'s [Roots]. A 50ml bottle is around $7cdn.(if I remember correctly). I bought mine at Sheridan nurseries. |

| A labor of love for you Cynthia ........You will be sorely missed. Although I think I've just killed my first orchid (dendrobium), I've learned soooooo much (for the next time) from your advice. Enjoy! Last edited by sandra; 04-28-2007 at 11:36 AM. |

| Well, I do have a little time and will be around, just not enough to read ALL the posts, so take me up on my offer of grabbing my atention if you want. The good news is that this will go pretty fast as I can hose the mix out of the pots with no root damage, and seasonal timing is not important for me because of the lack of damage. Anton, I think there must be a difference then for monopodials, which don't normally start new growths. Thanks for the experimental data.
