Wonder what these Maxillaria growths are

I have a Max. luteo-alba and it's been growing happily outside, producing three large growths. Last week, I took it indoors because of the cold temps and I peeled back the dried sheaths covering the new growths. To my surprise, I noticed three little growths lined up like peas in a pod. Another growth has two of them. Are these buds or new growths? I heard that this species blooms in the spring/early summer though. Maybe my plant is just seasonally confused?

Being a luteo-alba...could be spikes or growths. Given that you have 3 clumped together like that, I'm leaning toward spikes...but it's still a little too soon to tell for sure. You should know before too long though. Keep us posted!!

BTW -- My Maxies get confused a lot so I don't pay much attention to "when they should be blooming". Of course, all of mine are relatively young so maybe they'll settle into the norm once they get some age.

Good news: They are spikes!

There are two new growths but they're new growths since they look flattened and roundish.
