Sigmatostalix radicans

I just acquired a Sigmatostalix radicans. It's in a 2.5" square pot, looks healthy. I never had one of these, anyone have any tips ??

Interesting I can't help with this one. But it does look healthy.

I have a Sigmatostalix pinchenensis. Got it from Ecuagenera a few years ago. I have it growing in sphag in a 2" pot Last bloom gave me 7 spikes, it is in spike now with 5 or 6 spikes. - find it pretty easy to maintain, I keep it moist and it gets moderate catt light. I fertilize every few waterings during active growth, maybe monthly in winter. Very teeny flowers on mine but also very cute!

I wish I had some info for you...but all I was able to do was kill mine.

Actually, I bought mine mounted and I think I was never able to keep it moist enough. Just a guess but a pretty good one, I think.

BTW - Ornithophora radicans -- Just the messenger here...don't shoot me.

Won't shoot you but the accepted name as of 2009 according to Kew's is Gomesa radicans. Just the messenger here.... please don't shoot me.

Bang! Bang!!

No, seriously...good catch!! Not having this one anymore I had allowed my info to become outdated and I should've checked before letting my fingers fly on the correction. Thanks Synda!

I hope no one minds me bumping a post from 3 mos ago, I just wanted to ask- how is the Sigmatostalix radicans/Ornithophora radicans/Gomesa radicans doing? Grown much? Thriving? Is it enjoying Maryland?

I'm considering one and research turned up that it seems to prefer high humidity (65%+) but is considered an easy grower. Any other proud owners here that are willing to share their experience? ^_^ Thanks all.

It is growing, has a few new growths. It is pretty humid in my growing areas, and I don't worry too much about relative humidity because I have a bunch of plants in the growing areas, I figure the mounts that are watered daily, and the other potted orchids help increase the humidity in the immediate area. Other than that, I have a "if it doesn't like it here, it doesn't stay here" attitude.

Hopefully it will continue growing for me...if not, it will go to live with someone else

Thanks for the fast reply! It sounds pretty happy and I like your housemates attitude. I hope I'm not pestering too much but I have a few more questions: how much exactly has it grown in the last 3 mos? It sounds like a fast grower. And what are you growing it in?

Your pictures on your blog look lovely btw.
