new orchid house

Hi everyone, my husband and I have just finished my orchid house, it has taken us since last xmas to complete, as I work fulltime we only had the weekends to do things and when I had holidays, and also we are 60yrs old, I think this is a great achievement

Very nice orchid house, its very neat. It makes me want to put a hard roof over my shade house. Just wondering if you have heating and fans for your orchids?

Thank you all for your kind comments, it really was hard work, I have had to go back to work in my office to get a rest.

Anton we live in Newcastle NSW 2 hours north of Sydney.

No I don't plan on putting fans and lights etc in there as I have shadecloth where the sun gets on them and flyscreen where there is no sun and this gives more light, I will have to wait and see how my orchid babies go.

Very imprtessive ! Please post pictures when your orchids bloom.

That is really nice. You all did a great job. Over time you will tweak it a bit, but that is the fun of a greenhouse. I have a small 9x12 here in California and it is MY space. I can spend quite a bit of time in there and my other cares seems to non exist! It's like a working meditation for me. Enjoy your new project!

Looks lovely, I was worried in the first photo that you had lots of products but not many plants but I see the transition now. I think the plants will do well there, what area do you live in?

I live 2 hours north of Sydney (Newcastle) where the Earthquake happened years ago and also the Pasha Bulker ran aground recently. We are starting to become know for the disaster city, hope my orchid house holds up to the next disaster if any.

Wow quite a little set up you got there! Proof that not a lot of money needs to be invested or that even on a not so big lawn it is still possible!
