Dendrobium's Pollens

hi,

I tried self pollination my dendrobiums after watching a video on how to via you tube. I realised some of the pollen looked dry and some wouldn't come out of it casing. Why is that so?

If the pollen looks dry can it still be use to pollinate flowers? Do i have to use newly bloomed flowers for pollination or can i use old flowers?

Thanks.

I agree with digitalgate. My success has come when attempting to pollinate new flowers.
