Lc. Loog Tone 's.d.' parentage/culture?

Hi all.

So I bought this plant back in March and was giving it pretty general catt care (high light, letting it dry out pretty well between waterings etc.).
I recently, however, found out a bit of information that I didn't know prior to getting this one. It is a bifoliate cattleya (as far as I know) and they seem to be a bit pickier. I was hoping to find its parentage to figure out what specific care it needs, but my research came up to a bit of a dead end (unfortunately the RHS website seems to be down at least for me).

I think its synonym is either Cattlianthe Loog Tone 's.d' or Guarisophleya etc. etc.
I think its parents are Lc. (whatever, I really am confused with the genus here) Netrasiri Doll x Cattleya Thospol Spot.
THOUGH, there is a more common cross Lc. Loog Tone 'Africa Beauty' and the parents I have listed might correspond to that one. The flower is much different from mine.

Maybe someone with orchidwiz could help me out here, or maybe kmarch?

Oh, don't worry I didn't forget the photos.
First is when I got it. Second and third are now.

Hi Rachael, RHS is down for me too...

I have Wiz - and yes, any Ctt. Loog Tone has the same parents as yours.. you have a different cultivar (one which is not registered by awards). Please note - the percentages do not add up.. this is only approx...
37% C. aclandiae, 12.5% Gur. aurantiaca, 12.5% C. guttata, 12.5% luetola, 6.3% C. dowiana, 6.3% C. forbesii, 6.3% C. granulosa and a bunch more that are under 2% - quite a mix.

I would go the plant for cultural clues - it is a tall skinny pbulb bifoliate. It probably wants to be watered more often because it doesn't have a big reservior - but it still wants to dry out well between waterings (but not for long). Because its a hybrid it probably isn't as fussy as its ancestors.

It does have a nice new growth - and I see some nice roots in there. Maybe don't let it stay dry so long to get those pbulbs to plump up a bit more.

It is very different in color than the other Ctt. Loog Tone - but you can see the parentage in the thick petals and sepals in the flower. Very like the cultivar 'Steyn's Sparkling Lemon'

You're correct on the parentage. It's Cattlianthe Netrasiri Doll x Cattleya Thospol Spot.

The current name of this hybrid is Cattlianthe Loog Tone. Guarisophleya is the synonym.

It sounds like you're confusing crosses with cultivars. Cattlianthe Loog Tone 'S.D.' and Cattlianthe Loog Tone 'African Beauty' are the same cross, Cattlianthe Loog Tone, but they are different cultivars and thus the different cultivar names, 'S.D.' and 'African Beauty'. Both have the same hybrids as parents, Cattlianthe Netrasiri Doll and Cattleya Thospol Spot.

I hope that's useful.

Thanks very much you two. Now I have a much better idea of how to make it happy!

Also, the Cattleya hybrids get so messy and confusing. Yikes..
