what's the next step?

Hi,

my backbulb finally show two sprouts

I cover it with a plastic bag, what I should do right now? repoting? uncover the bag? put it outside?

I lived in Canada, we had a very dry and hot summer now.

thanks.

What kind of orchid is it? (It looks a bit like a Catasetum but I'm not sure.)

The next steps will depend a great deal on what you're growing. Let us know what it is and we'll be able to help guide you.

BTW -- Welcome to the forum!

That was my next guess.

From what I can tell you have one new growth but the white thing is a root....that's a very good thing.

I would begin treating it more like a seedling. Water when it's about dry...but don't let it dry out...and start acclimating it to higher light. I don't think you need the bag any longer...just start giving it regular culture as you would a new plant. I would also begin fertilizing w/a dilute solution since we are in full blown grow season for these guys.

I only have a couple of Cyms but we have some Cym experts on here so hopefully they will chime in if I'm missing anything.

Just in case you haven't seen this...here's a Cym culture sheet
