| Cat. Divisions
I went to repot one of my Cats. and it litterally fell into three divisions. Now, its my understanding that a cat will only develop a new leaf on the last division that grew and that the back p.bulbs will not develop new buds. Is this right or wrong? All three divisions have nice looking roots and I put them all in pots. If the back bulbs are not going to do anything then I will toss them. The forums help is always appreciated. |

jonada is right, each division should be able to produce new psuedobulbs.....as long as there is a viable growth eye on the rhizome, they will grow and flower....whoever told you to toss em was nuts....pot and enjoy...gl

I'm with the other two - I learned at a seminar that most catts have two or more directions of growth possible per pbulb - one they use (the more favorable because of light, etc.).. and one they don't. If something happens to the catt and it is divided - the un-used eye will develop a new growth and off it goes....

i divided one of my catts a few months ago and gave the back division to my mom. just a couple weeks later, it had started two new growths from two different back bulbs. so definitely don't toss the old divisions!
