Ready to take the plunge

As the self-described Queen of Root Rot, I have listened to and heeded the advice of others with regards to my fine-rooted Oncidium alliance friends and will try the s/h method. I received my package from Ray's yesterday and washed all of the LECA this morning, I am currently soaking it in plain water until tomorrow morning, then will soak it in water with a dash of Epsom salts and K-L-N rooting hormone until Saturday morning. that's when I will pot 'em up!!

I think I have adequately studied his website and read all of the forum posts, and am ready to go.

Wish me luck, fellow geeks! I have a grand total of about 10 roots of 3 of these little lovelies, and would love to see some blooms this time next year!

Good luck! I'm not so into Onc's I do have a few and all are growing S/H and do quite well. The resevoir does dry up quickly though, so be prepared to be flushing the pots a bit. Be sure to post pictures.

I have several of these in s/h and they are doing quite well. Like syndy says the reservoir does empty pretty quick. You will get some algae build up in the reservoir but it's nothing to get excited over. Just a good scrubbing in some hot soapy water and a good rinse and your good to go.

Good luck, Brigitte. I've tried growing in straight LECA, but not s/h yet. Sounds like fun. Look forward to seeing some pics.

Very funny, Steve! I would never willingly kill one - but my ignorance before finding this forum very nearly did.

Sounds good! My Sharry Babies and a miltonidium all seem to love SH, so you should do well.
