Is this a spike?

Could this be the start of some flowers to come?

I don't really know anything about this plant but it does look different than just a new growth.

The reddish/green growth next to the bulb? Looks similar to the ones on my oncidium. Geeks say they are new pbulbs, so yes I would say future flowers

I would love to say its a flower spike, because it looks like the ones on my Cym, but here is a link for you to be sure.

Cym flower spike or growth ?

It will be a while before you know for sure, but I will vote for spike!

Hard to tell from your picture, but you can check out the link BGGraham put out and you can read up. A cym spike is usually a bit more rounded. A new growth will flatten and fan out. You can also gently squeeze the spike, firmer and its a spike, softer and a bit spongy and it''s a growth. From what I can see, I'm guessing spike, but a few more weeks will tell for sure.
