Clear pots

Hello all,

I am quite new to this and so will be doing my first repotting. Where do I acquire clear plastic pots for the orchids. I looked at Home Depot, Lowes and Target but no luck. Any ideas where I could find these? Thanks a lot.

I also have never found any clear pots other than the pots the orchids come in. I don't know if you'd find them at a nursery?? Actually, I'm finding that my phals quite like the clay pots with slats on the bottom to allow drainage. The roots are attaching to the pot, so all seems well with my arrangement.
Good luck in your search.

I buy some stuff at repot.com...I recently got an idea from one of the members here to repot my orchids in real glass pots... I started going to thrift stores and buy flower vases and used my drill to bore holes ...now I have a nice transparent planter/pots for my orchids and I can monitor the root growth...some of my vandas are hanging on a redwood basket I also ordered from repot.com

If your not to concerned about appearence you can just go to the grocery store and get some of those reusable/disposable, glad or other brand, containers, really cheap and easy to puncture lots of holes into as needed and lots of different sizes

I've had the same problem, even checked orchid stores and local nurseries. I wasn't willing to pay a fortune on shipping for $3 or $4 worth of clear plastic pots (I have only 4 orchids). When it was time to repot, I used a glad bowl (about 5" -6") and a wonton soup bowl from our local chinese take-out and reused two of the other pots. Drilled holes in them and soked all of them in a bleach solution for 30 minutes and my orchids seem to be doing just fine.

The clear orchid pots you have to order. I have used rePotme Orchid Supplies - Orchid Mix - Orchid Pots - Orchid Care - Orchid Fertilizer and have ordered on a Friday and Tuesday it was on my doorstep. Plus they will email you specials, the customer service is and you can get more than just pots

The green plastic pots either round or square w/holes in the bottoms like you get at the greenhouses work well too. I have a bunch of 4 and 6 in that I save. Just give em a good scrubbing and your good to go. I have gone back to using the clay orchid pots for my dens and catts. Sometimes I need a deep one. I just get the regular clay azalea pot with a good size drainage hole in the bottom.

I buy 6 or 8 every time I go to an orchid/plant show, in different sizes. That's the only place I can find them. You can, as mentioned, also find some pretty fair substitutes in the kitchen section of any grocery or big box store.

Try an actual nursery that has a water garden section. That's where I found mine.

I just ordered pots from here - Chula Orchids - Clear Pots - Orchid Supplies - Plant Clips - they were inexpensive, have tons of holes and even the cone in the bottom. There is a minimum order of $10, but if you have a few orchids, it is great to stock up. Charged me exact shipping and they were sent out the next day. The guy was SUPER nice. I would highly suggest them!

eBay search "clear plastic pots" brought up a lot of them. I've only ever seen them already containing orchids at big-boxes, which the clear plastic pot is usually slipped into a hole-less ceramic death-trap lol, which was how two of my clearance rescues came.
