More seedlings!!!

I got two new flasks today. I figuered Summer could be a better time to de-flask as I don't have to run a heating pad under the seedling tray, like I did last time....
I had two trays ready (ended up using only one) with lava rocks at the bottom and filled with warm watter and a t.spoon of Physan20. I sprayed the dome with 1/9 bleach.

Then I soaked Sphag in water with a few drops of Superthrive and few drops of Physan20. Then I soaked all small containers to be filled with seedlings in 1/9 bleach (30 min or so).
Then I put my first flask (Cycnoches cooperi) into a dish with water:

These ones are very tiny seedlings, but they look healthy. So I put 3-4 of them together in each tiny pot, finishing with a clump of them in a little pot.
Second flask (Epi. nocturnum) where seedlings looked much bigger took longer as I needed to pot each one.....

One seedling looked like an adult....

So here they are all and WISH ME LUCK!!!!!!!

That looks like a fabulous setup you got there - I like it! Where did you get the seedling trays and plastic grid material? Looks like you did a super job getting everything put together and ready to go too......

Hi Orchidea, Those Babies are beautiful! What nice healthy roots they have. These should do well and put on rapid growth. Should I dare say it? Hopefully early blooms! What color flowers do you hope to produce? Your level of expertise in handling such delicate plants is admiirable. I love to view the posts showing advanced Orchid care techniques such as deflasking. Someday I hope to try it myself. Thanks for sharing! Please Keep us updated on their growth.

Thank you Mike,
Hydroponic stores are selling trays and domes year round, but big box stores usually have trays in early Spring for seedlings of flowers and vegetables.
I am getting my plastic grid in any big box store ($10-13 for a sheet that makes 5 smaller ones for 10x20 trays). They sell it in the electrical department for covering these bulky lights fixtures that usually stuck to the kitchen ceiling.... I cut them up to fit the trays. I get my big bags of lava rock in the same type of stores.
All my chids are sitting on top of these kind of humidity trays as our CO humidity levels are simply pathetic.....

Really nice looking set up. I like using that large mesh plastic material for humidity trays as well. For some reason, I can't understand, I think they call it 'eggcrate'

Anyway, best of luck with your new babes, they do look very healthy and I'm sure you'll bring lots of 'em to the 'we're on our own' stage.

Cheers,
Tony

Thank you Tony,
Yep, they call it "eggcrate". My guess is a while back (before the technology) people were crating eggs in these type of gratings........ a bit bigger size though.
I got this idea for the humidity trays from some wonderful geeks here on this forum a while back. Too bad these geeks are not posting anymore.....
