| I was feeding my Reed Epidendrum today (the one everyone told me was on it's way to the GH in the sky a few weeks ago), and low and behold..... (see second image). Not only,....... But also .......... I also watering my Dockrilla and there, in front of my eyes, is a new leaf (or tongue to some people) and a little tacker poking its head out from under the sphagnum moss. (see red arrrows). Guess who's a happy chappy. MY BROTHER WON'T GET THE DOCK BACK NOW ! ![]()

| No, it was the Dockrilla he had Cindy, the Epidendrum is from a keiki I was given from a florist shop where I bought my Phal. It went down hill quite quickly as Cynthia will tell you, but as you said, perserverence pays and when I saw it today I said "YEEESSSS!" It is good when you can get success from potential failure. The Dockrilla hasn't grown since dad died 23 1/2 years ago, and I have had it since the beginning of January when my brother handed it over to me, and already it has new growth. Can't wait to see his face when he sees it.

| Hi Anton, Congratulations on all of the new growth. I like the autumn for this reason (smong others). Lots of things are starting to emerge. I have found spikes beginning on some of my Paphs and Aussie native Dens, my Dock is growing too (especially congrats on that. It's happy!) as are my tetragonums. And my cymbids are growing things...whether they are spikes or growths remains to be seen. 'Tis the season for growth! |

| Nice happy end, Anton! I mean, happy beginning. It's so funny to hear that autumn is the season of growth! But doesn't matter, autumn or spring...important is that all the plants are really growing.

| Good job with both plants, Anton!! That Dockrillia has 23 years of growth to make up for, so it will probably go crazy now. Aniko, in a lot of places, including where I live, both spring and fall are peak growth times. If summers are hot and/or dry, plants will slow down or stop growing, and resume again when it gets cooler and damper in the fall. |

| My Green Hoods (Pterostylus) are starting to take off. About a week ago i had one sprout, 2 days later 2 sprouts, 2 days after that, 24 sprouts. I love these little things. |

| I actually knew the Dock was called a Dendrobium, but thought that it was long enough to go to drop it AND GET WITH THE TIMES. No sign of life from my wife's Hoodeds yet. What have you done to bring them on ?

| My Wife's Turn Now my wife, (she who must be obeyed), is happy too, her Pterostylis Curta, Diuris and Thelymitra are finally starting to show signs of life. She was worried they weren't going to grow. For the uninitiated, these are Australian Terrestrial native orchids and delicate to look at, but hardy as anything, they would have to be, to live in our climate. Just thought I would pass this on as many of you wouldn't know that she is in the "if you can't beat em, join em" brigade. Genny decided to be different and go for Ozzie natives because she likes the delicate flowers they produce.

| Hi Anton, Tell your wife I said congrats. I adore the Australian terrestrials. I liked them long before I even thouht I might move to Australia, especially the green hoods. I actually grew some in the US years ago. I have a nice pot of Pterostylus curta with about 65 sprouts. Looks like it's going to be a good year for them if it doesn't stay too warm (it's been warm lately). I'm looking forward to picking up a few more pots of green hoods this year. |
