Cattleya warneri

Many years ago, I imported a Cattleya warneri from (where else?) Brasil. In flower, it was spectacular. After several years, it died after a gradual decline. I hope that I learned many things from the experience.

C. warneri is considered temperature-tolerant. In this case, it means that the species prefers warmer/intermediate temps however, it will tolerate "intermediate" temps....at least, that is my hope! My previous plant? When I read that the species was "temp tolerant", I let it slide to intermediate/cool in autumn. I hope that this time, I have it right!

2011 is a different year. I purchased this plant at the SEPOS Show at Longwood Gardens in March from Cal-Orchid (Lauris Rose "persuaded" me to purchase this plant ) I look forward to 2013. Why did I skip 2012? The plant needs repotting. There isn't any need for me to "expect" anything other than a smoooth transition. I will take what I get!

The frilled edge on the lip is lovely, and great color. Good luck!

I love species. Those are so pretty, I especially love the whites with yellow and pink in the lip. I can see why you are trying it again.
