Thanks guys I have a hybrid Stenoglottis that flowered a little earlier (I'll see if I can find my pics). It is Stenoglottis Venus which from memory is longifolia X fimbriata. I think this cross was an attempt to introduce the spotted leaves of fimbriata to the fuller flower of longifolia.

More in flower today... Pterostylis abrupta ![]() Pterostylis longipetala ![]() Also, here's the hybrid Stenoglottis Venus that I mentioned earlier... personally I think longifolia is a better plant.

Hi dan, so what are the requirements of Stenoglottis

Nothing special really... they like a fair bit of water when they are growing then they die back over winter. They don't really have tubers, they're more like fleshy roots - kind of like Spiranthes. Mine are just potted in a mix of coco husk chips and perlite. 2 pots are looking pretty lifeless at the moment but the other one is starting to put out some new shoots.

They seem pretty tolerant of whatever conditions I give them. Light-wise I wouldn't put them in too bright a position. They have papery leaves that look like they'd burn fairly easily. You could probably keep them happy inside on a south-facing (north-facing for the northern hemisphere ppl) windowsill or bright room with an east-facing window. Water requirements - keep them constantly damp in summer. That's why I put them in coco chip because it tends to stay wet longer. Once the leaves die down I only water sparingly until I see new growth. The chips are about 1-1.5cm. Not sure what grade you'd call that. I chuck some perlite in there to keep a bit of air in the mix.
