| I assume you mean you cut it off AFTER blooming? This is not necessarily a bad or incorrect way to go. For a fairly young plant this will give the plant a chance to "recharge" and build up leaves and roots for next season's new spike that will come in the late fall or early winter typically - most will bloom once per year - for a period of three months or more. I cut most of mine off clear down to the base afterwards too! Good luck and enjoy your leaves and roots! They can be just about as much enjoyment to watch and appreciate as the flowers. mike |
