Masdie Question

I bought a Masdie Hampshire Prolific in the beginning of Feb. It was in low spike and has since grown many more. It's third flower opened today and I noticed that the first bloom spike (flower still intact) has branched and is getting a second bloom on it. I know very little about Masdies. Is this a sequential bloomer? Is this normal? If yes to both of those it may be my new favorite.

Hampshire Prolific is a sequential. It gets that nice habit from the floribunda parent. Love my HP and my floribunda! Great plants!

Thanks, Kat!! I didn't like Masdies at first, but they are "growing" on me fast. Might just have to get a few more. Floribunda you say....hmmmm. Love the sequentials!!!

Yep...floribunda. Another great seqential...if you like tall spikes...is impostor.

Oh and floribunda x impostor is an awesome little plant...sequential AND it's almost always in bloom. The f x i doesn't have tall spikes.

Of course, they're only great if you like masdies that bloom alot.

What do you know...it sure does. I just looked it up on OW and it appears that the cross is registered.

And another one bites the dust

There are many many sequential bloomers, species and hybrids. Let me know if you want the names of the ones I have here. I really love them and also the ones that have multiple blooms open at the same time on the same spike.

Congrats - another masdie lover has been born

Brooke

You are so right, Brooke. I have seen the Masdie light!!! Yes, I would love to have the names of both sequential and multi bloomers. I love the show this one is putting on. I will take some pics today and show you all what I am enjoying!

Here are some pics of my Prolific. First what she looked like when I got her.

Masdie Question-masdie-hampshire-prolific.jpg

These I took today. If you look close you can see the spike that is producing a second bloom.

Masdie Question-masdie-3.jpg

And notice she is just getting started. Quickly becoming a favorite.

Yes, I would still love the Zygo. I don't know what it is I am doing. I don't really know much about them. I keep it with wet feet and fairly high light. Weekly/weakly with worm tea. It is 70-75 day and 62 + at night. My humidity is fairly low through the winter. Maybe it just likes me.
