Physan Equivalent Hello, When I lived in he US I used Physan for fungal and bacterial control. I now live in Melbourne Australia and have not been able to find the equivalent of Physan down here. Can any of my fellow Aussies help me out and recommend a good Physan-like product? I have a few Masdevallias that really need it. Thank you! -Kevin

Until you find something, you may want to use straight hydrogen peroxide for the bacterial control. Also, triple antibiotic cream from the pharmacy. For the fungus, you might want to use a teaspoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of vegetable oil to a quart of water, with a couple of drops of dish liquid as a spreader-sticker. This works both indoors and outdoors, particularly black spot on roses. I hope you hear from a fellow Aussie. If not, try the Gardenweb.com forum, I know at least one Aussie posts there.

I found somethign called Lime & Sulfur fungicide. Has anyone out there used this on orchids? According to the label it treats quite a wide variety of fungal spotting and rust. Any thoughts, opinions?

I have not used it, but as I mentioned above about the baking soda, that makes the water alkaline, as would the lime, and fungus does not like alkaline conditions. And sulfur for plants has been in use for plants for generations. Molasses is recommended for orchids and that has sulfur in it.
