Help! Do I break old sheath open?

This haven't happened to me yet. It's the old sheath that was staying flat and dry like a piece of paper. I repotted this Catt few weeks ago, and noticed the other day that this old sheath is plumbing up like a baloon....I can see at least two buds inside now..., but it's not only plumb like a baloon, it's closed like a baloon also....
Should I open it????? Or should I let it take it's natural course?

Looking at this chid more closely I found out that a new growth is forming a new sheath with something inside as well...

Yep...leave it alone. It'll do what it's suppose to do when it's ready.

Congrats on the future bloom!!

I'll add my voice in consensus to the others. Leave it along and let it do its thing. It's not uncommon for some cattleya hybrids to grow sheaths, have then turn brown and dry up nly to have them flower 1, 2, or even 3 years later. As Data form Star Trek TNG might say, "Your orchid is performing within expected parameters. :P

I agree with everyone else. Leave it be, I have made the mistake of opening it early.

I also have a couple Catts. that the sheath s grew then just dried and I left them alone. So I also vote with everyone else to just leave it be.
Good growing !

That's why I am glad I found these geeks, I too have a dried sheath and would not have know what to expect, but sometime ago I read from a posting here that you just have to wait on them, so that's what I am doing.
