I don't think the keiki has enough roots to support the bloom spikes. If it were mine, I would let the keiki stay on the mother plant until it finishes blooming, or, when the roots are getting long enough that any longer would make it a problem to fit in a pot, I would take it off, which ever comes first. Looks like you are going to have a lot of flowers.

I think you may find that the spike is on the stem from the mother plant and the keiki is separate.

I also would leave the keiki until the roots are longer.

I once had a quarter size keiki produce three buds but were they ever ugly and deformed.

Thank you.

Genetically yes. Just a different method of getting a duplicate of the original plant. One the plant produces and the other (clones) are replicated by man.

well i will leave it till it blooms if it blooms. through some pm's i was told to look at the roots to see why it is sending up the keikis and found some pretty severe rot. got that all cleaned up and have it transplanted into semi hydrponics with some kln added to it. i must be getting better at this or your advice (all of you) has been priceless, as i have two in bag that are growing new roots (yeah) and i took a almost dead phal out of a bag and mounted it as i hear that this can actually be better (sometimes) and it is starting to take off as well. i guess if i just keep reading i just might start to retain some of your knowledge and start to wean myself off of plastic plants. thanks for all the help and will keep you posted
