First bloom from small phal bought last year from mall

Hi, I got this last year and this is the first bloom. I know that there are a zillion phals out there, but maybe some one may recognise it. Bill

Hey Bill!
I don't think I ever get tired of seeing a phal spike and bloom (or any other orchid for that matter!). The chances of positively indentifying a NOID phal are slim and none unless you can find the grower - and even some of them will not know. Many of these plants go through several growers as they progress from one stage to the next in mass production and in the transition they loose their identification. As you might imagine, very few of the mass BUYING public could care less what the official cross is. Just us orchid "geeks"! This is one of the downsides of purchasing plants from grocery stores, big box stores, etc. (which I most certainly have done as well! It is hard to ignore a great "buy" or a beatiful plant when you see it.) Enjoy your blooms - nice! mike

Many of my noidies are charished old friends. I've often bemoned the loss of such a noidy as much or more so than a name plant. Sometimes noidies are harder to replace than name plants when you loose them because they are no-names.

Beautiful phal, name or no. The first one I bought is taking its sweet time opening a bud - I hope to have some pictures soon of a new flower.

I agree, beautiful flower, I love those with subtle markings like this one, even though the one I have is a crimson pink.

I don't like the plain white ones, but that green tinge really makes that flower.
