| D.Kingianum Keiki-when to separate I noticed these this morning, and just wondering if, when or how to separate them from the parent D.kingianum. Image one gives a bit wider angle to show the relationship of the roots to the rest of the plant, and the second image is closer up to give more detail.

| What's the best way of removing them Cynthia, cut, or break ?

| You keikis were also at the top of the cane, so many commercial growers cut part of the cane and burry it with the roots. It is the methd I like. You might fear rot in the cut cane but I very seldom see any problems. I believe the piece of cane gives the keiki something to use for strength. It may not be true, but I seem to get better success and faster growth with this method.

| Thanks for that tip Jerry, if any more pop up I'll give it a try. The only potting mix I can get at present is a course bark, and I am not happy about putting the keikis into it, I would rather a less course mix. Any suggestions about adding other type mixes with the course bark to give the keikis something more substantial to hold them until they take ?
