When do Paph. blooms usually open?

Remember this photo i posted up on the 29th of Jan?

Well its like almost 2 months, and its not haven't opened up But its getting there...

How long will it take for paphs to open up fully? I want to take to the shows.

I also got a Paph. Sacred Dancer with 3 blooms. Cant wait for this to open up...

Stephen

When they're good and ready.

I'd bet you have another week or more before your green Maudiae-type is fully open. It can sometimes take a few weeks from the time the bud pops to the time when the flower is fully open. Paphs, nor any orchid for that matter, blooms according to orchid show schedules. I don't know how many times I've had plants bloom just before or after shows. Dozens of times. When is the show you want to put it in?

Wow, Stephen,
your paphs look lovely! Though I can imagine your frustration at having a bloom sitting there for 2 mths and not be opened yet.

you're starting into your fall season in Australia, right? (having just acquired a paph myself; I'm wondering if fall is when paphs generally flower -- with exceptions, of course, lol)

Kmarch, im just taking it to the next table show at my local orchid club. I won best novice and orchid of the night with a vanda this month. Hopefully will win something next month.

Yes, Australia is in Autumn now, and its been quite cold in Sydney for the past few days. Hopefully this wont affect the blooms this year

To answer Aprils question about what season paphs flower in, I find that although they can spike at just about any time of the year, it does seem like more of them spike in Autumn and flower in winter and spring.
