How do you make a Phal be stable?

One of my phals had root rot, so I decided to repot. I had to cut most of the roots off, and when I tried repotting, the phal wouldn't be stable. It kept wobbling back and forth.

Is there like a method you guys use for stability?
Like a rhizome clip for catts, what is there for phals?

I insert a bamboo skewer on each side of the stem and then twist tie the top of the skewers together.

You can get pot clips at Lowes or Home Depot. They work well.

Thanks guys,

I tried going to Home Depot and asking them for pot clips, and their unknowledgeable staff looked at me with a confused look. I guess my local home depot doesn't have them.

Right now I am using Brooke's method (Thanks)
They work quite nicely too =)

Masking tape across the rim of the pot works well also. It can be used to train a stalk or guide a pseudopod in the direction you want as well.

It takes a bit of time for my orchids to "settle" when I repot them. They are usually tipsy for a few weeks (no, not THAT kind of tipsy....lol...) until the media settles down.

I have even used spread-open hair pins to hold a rhyzome down. The hair pins eventually degrade.

what i do is using a soft spongy plastic covered wire to hold it in place and just tie the ends together under the pot (through the drainage holes). When the plan grows a few new roots and gets stable i untie it and it stays in place.

Sometimes I use the old (but cut) spike and a stalk to fixate the plant in a pot. When I repot and want to trim the spike, I trim after repotting. When I need the old spike to fixate the orchid in it's pot, I don't cut it back as far as normal.

I had to resort to using monofilament fishing line to tie mine into the net pots because they kept falling out. It has worked quite well so far.
