First Bloom Hi Mathewjohn, It's exciting when you get that first bloom isn't it!!!!! Congratulations. It's a beautiful white flower for the season. I am about 600 miles from home for the holidays and praying each night that my orchids are surviving my absence and that all my automatic controls are working as they should. Where are you located and what are your growing conditions? I'm always interested in how others grow their plants. Have a great Christmas and holiday season. Andy: ![]()

The plant is a young phal and most likely its first bloom. I'm in SE Pa and grow most of my orchids under lights in a spare bedroom, although a few high light catts are in a south facing window and one has three flower sheaths on it. I have two other phals in spike now, a Mini Mark 'Hom' with a double spike. Both have four buds forming so far, and a phal 'Spring Meadow' purchased from Carter and Holmes. They say both are supposed to be fragrant so I can't wait to see them open which I think will be within a couple weeks.

Sounds as though you are doing a good job growing under lights. I grew under lights for several years when I lived in Cincinnati and did rather well in the Columbus show each year. Post some more pics when you get more blooms. Have a great holiday. Andy
