keiki question

I have a phal keiki that started in the end of October. It has 2 sizable leaves but no new growth or roots emerginh. In fact it seems that it stopped growing. Is this natural? Will it resume once we come closer to spring? I had another phal keiki from mid-summer, it seems that the growth was more continuous.

I have had the same thing to happen to me. It has been almost seven months since mine started. That is the only one I have ever had to do this the rest of them has got roots. I don't know if it is normal or not but I still have mine and it is still just sitting there LOL I will read on after a few more geeks respond to see what to do LOL

Does it currently have any roots at all? - unclear if you are saying no new roots "emerging" or no roots period. Most of my keikis end up with 3-4 total roots at the time I remove them. I would spritz the base of the keiki daily or even more often to see if you can encourage some root activity if you have not got sufficient (or any) root growth on your baby yet. Some people have also resorted to tying a small bundle of sphag at the base of the keiki to encourage some root growth - though I have never had to do this with any I've had.

Phals grow faster in warmth, so if you have less light/cooler temps the keiki growth will slow down. The keikis I have have stopped growing but are spiking.

If you don't have any root development you may want to try a little DynaGro KLM.

no roots at all. but it seems that the seasonal conditions did have an effect. I'll try to mist the base of the keiki to see what happens. since spring is rigjht around the corner it should start growing again. a keiki from the same plant which I potted this fall has spiked. thanks for all of the advice.
