a little burnt

i bought this lou sneary vanda and when i bought it, it was the best thing i had. after the spike fell off i have the hardest time trying to get it to bloom, and by moving it aroud to try and find the sweet area of my yard i have seemed to burn a little. do you think that it will still bloom. it has fairly good root growth with green tips on some of the roots. and am also giving a constant feeding of
13-13-13 slow release, and also now that it is getting cooler my local orchid grower here in st. pete, fl i am also feeding bloom booster. please help

I don't think this plant is going to bloom for a couple of years at least. It looks a little dehydrated, and the burn looks like it is in a bad spot. I hope you don't lose the new leaf, or worse, the entire growing center of your plant. I would not give this plant high bloom, it is not big enough (enough leaves) to bloom. I would concentrate on getting the Vanda to grow more, and see if you can keep it wetter, maybe a couple hour soak often. Jerry is the expert on growing Vandas in Florida. Maybe we will hear from him.

Neostylis Lou Sneary is a mini, and I've had them bloom at the size of the one in the pic. The problem is not the size, it's the condition of the plant that is problematic. Get it out of the hot sun and give it plenty of water. Since it's not growing in medium it needs to be watered every day. The fertilizers won't help until the plant gets rehydrated. In fact, if too concentrated, they could be dehydrating it. Good luck with it.

My My....what type of leave burning is that? Has this plant been next to something thats is reflecting sunlight or heat on it? And how have you been applying a slow release fertilizer? Anyways the roots look great, I wouldn't mind repotting in clay pot..and break another clay pot and use large pieces as potting mix....Water every morning after after a full sunny day...avoid direct sunlight until new plant leaves develop.
