Question Spike???

This is one of my NOID Phal type Dendrobium, I was looking them all over and found this:
Spike???-image001.jpg

Spike???-image001-2-.jpg

Spike???-image001-3-.jpg
This one is also putting on new roots and a new growth... I may just be getting overly hopeful, but this doesn't look like what I once thought was a spike.(Turns out it was just the terminal end of the p-bulb)
Is that what this is? I've never seen this one in bloom, and it didn't come with a tag of any sort. It would be wonderful for it to be putting out a spike this soon

That's where a spike would come from and, though I'm not 100% sure, I think this would be the season for you when they would be spiking. I think there's a good chance it is a spike. Fingers crossed! Please keep us posted!

Hello Olive, it is too hard to tell what those little bumps are from those blurred photos, any chance you might be able to replace them???

I had to take the photos with my phone, my camera was even worse on the blurriness. I'll take more in a week, maybe borrow a better camera

Looks like a spike, but those little bumps can be deceiving. They can be stalled or forever bumps I've found.

This is new!
That's why I'm posting it, I gave all of the plants a good look over when I got them back before Christmas,(wasn't there then) but for the most part have been ignoring the Dens aside from weekly watering, but even then it's just in the sink for 30 mins, then back to their homes.
And then today, I saw this. I am very sorry about the pictures, no matter what I do they blur

I am crossing my fingers for a spike for you!!! On your camera, you should have a macro setting, it is designated by a flower usually. This way you can zoom WAY in without the blur. Can you try that? It might be under your camera settings option.
Again, hoping it is a spike!!!!!!

Evie, I've looked on my camera several times, it's just too old and doesn't have any way to do that. My Moms camera does, and it's a newer model of mine... I'm just going to see if I can use hers and put better pics up, maybe around the first of the week

Hmmm, yeah if it does not have a macro function, it makes zooming in hard (I had an old camera like that myself) Hey, now you know what your husband can get you for your birthday or Mother's Day Anyway, still for a spike!

I'm starting to thinks so too, but I'm still just not sure. I have a new growth on another Den, that looks just like this one started... even though I know new leaves are good too, I'm gonna be sad if it's not a spike

Either way it is good. I don't know that much about Dens, but I would put my money on spike.

Who knows, I read in a book that some Dens dependent on watering could start out growing a spike and it turn into a keiki.....I am new to Dens but it is an interesting thought, so who knows hwat you maye have :P
