What wouldn't you do for your chids....

I just wanted to let you guys know and share. I am building a stand for my chids. It's a project that took me two weekends by now, and it's not over yet. I am in the middle of it now as you can see in the picture. It's my design and my labor 100%......
I wanted to post a picture in the middle of the project in case someone wants to use my design. It's very sturdy and has industrial set of wheels (2 of them with the lock). Everything is 45 degrees cut, so it's fairly simple, just takes time. It would be perfect for outdoors or GH, but I am planning to use it inside.... I am just tired of running from room to room to attend my chids.
I have some other projects in mind for myself (bathroom vanity, etc.), but my chids are FIRST.......
I'll post again when it's done, but have to go to HD now to get some more wood to finish it........

Interesting, I know there is more to do, but I have a question. I assume there are to be shelves staggered on the outside. I can see you have a few shelves which are on the inside. Do you plan to place plants on these as well? If the outer shelves are full of plants, will it be difficult to reach plants on those inner shelves?

Well, the inside shelves are designed primarily for bracing, but I would use them for extra humidity trays and smaller gadgets. That's what I have in mind right now. They could work pretty good as a "hospital" for the chids in plastic bags, etc.
Synda, you are right, the outer shelves are designed for 10X20 inches trays and hopefuly will accomodate most of my orchids......

I use a small hand pump sprayer to water my chids. With that, you can reach all sorts of places! Home Depot is for supplies, right? (not more orchids!)

Wow that is so smart I am impressed that you designed and built this beauty; it's perfect! I love it. I have already maxed out on space for orchid. I've been telling my husband that I need a small green house; he's not listening.

Thank you dillon935, that is actually my new Cymbidium I couldn't pass by about two weeks ago. And that is the one that takes so much space so I had to start my project right away when I got it .......
I will try to take my Cym outside comes Spring, see if he likes it there. We have very unpredictable weather here, so I'll see how it goes.

that sounds like a good idea, using the inner shelves for humidity trays or as an orchid infirmary. and when the outer shelves are full of orchids, you can just build another for all the new orchids.

Looking good I have to get some shelves up for my 'childs myself. I've already got shelving units so they won't be nearly as fancy. I think I need to put wheels on one of them though, so I can move it away from the sliding glass door if needed.

Here it is, all done!!!
I still had to let some warm temps loving chids to stay upstairs in my guest room, but most of them went on this stand.
I hope they will appreciate all this hard work I put into it and reward me with some nice blooms.......

Thank you tangers40 for putting things in prospective for me.
I want a big sun-room instead of this big window. I found a house on one of the web sites with 2 level sun-room and a fountain. I can't sleep for two nights thinking about it.....
I bought the house I am in right now because I didn't have enough space in the back yard to plant a cherry tree. Too bad I didn't know then I'll be having so many orchids inside the house. My cherry tree is a big tree now and produced a lot of cherries (all eaten by birds). I can't go on buying houses for my plants.............
I'll try to be happy with my big window.

I am sure you'll be able to have any window you want when you are done with school, don't worry.

Thank you orchidlover55,
The wheels on this stand are the most important thing I had in mind, and they finally got to be used yesterday. We had 7F last night here, so I just pushed my stand away from the window to the middle of the room.
You are right, it was a lot of loose LECA on the floor, so I could pick it up and clean there...........
It works great for me so far......

Thank you everyone for looking at it............

Nice design orchidea

I planned to build a couchs, table and 1-2 chair for my livingroom (use bamboo). I am going to north of Thailand next weekend and look for some hand woven fabric.

I really like using bamboo. Its an amazing material.

About business I think its not much to earn. We probably like the things we make to much and never want to sell it
