You cut it off near the base. As for the sheath, I think it just continues to grow? I don't know...It might spread out and start a new sheath of leaves next to the original one. I haven't had time to dig into my new book on slipper orchids. |

Paphs are sympodial, and only flower once per growth. Once the blossom(s) has/have dropped, you may safely trip the spike down close the the crown. That growth will put of new growths that will bloom upon maturation.

Thanks, I just wasn't sure how to cut it down inside the sheath and what exactly the sheath would then do...
