What's wrong with my Pot. Burana Beauty Bud?

My Pot. Burana Beauty has had this one sheath which had 4 buds in it. The first three buds came out of the sheath with no problems. The last one just couldn't get free of the sheath and I had to help it along as it was folded over itself in the sheath. This is what it looks like now. A lot smaller than the other 3 and turning yellow and black. Do you think it is just this one bud thats damaged, or should I be concerned with the others as well? I hate to think I won't see any of these beautiful blooms.

Hiya Synda. It looks like bud blast. It doesn't mean you did something wrong necessarily. It could be something in the environment, or sometimes buds just do that. The overall plant looks okay

Just let it drop off naturally or i gently touch it to see if it will fall off(but that's just me).

I would keep an eye on that one bud with the dark dent on it though. It could be nothing. I'm sure you'll get more answers soon.

I've had this happen too....buds getting stuck in the sheath...with catts as well as some others. I've always just chalked it up to a humidity issue because it seems to happen more often this time of the year which is the lowest humidity time for me. I could be waaaaaaaaay wrong though. I now try to watch them and it anything looks stuck I try to work it loose. That one should fall off shortly. As for the other buds...I'd bet they'll be fine.

I've also had it happen where the plant for some odd reason aborts one of the buds for no apparent reason. It's fine one day...the next it's blasting. I have a friend who swears that if she moves her catts even the slightest they will blast the buds...I do move things around so perhaps that's the reason. ?? It's a big mystery to me.

As the others have said- not to worry. Mine bloomed a couple weeks ago, and there's another set of buds about to pop. I have to take pictures this time, as I didn't with the last three. Yours looks good!

The rest of the buds still looks great. I think they will open up just fine for you. Three out of four isn't too bad. Mine is still in sheath still so I'm keeping my fingers crossed they'll come out OK.

my first cattleya to bloom also had 4 buds and one was blasted before they made it outside of the sheath. All 3 are doing great. I think they just do that sometimes as other said.
