Hi Darren good time to repot them now. My 2 penny worth. First I only use 15 mm bark if the Paphs are to go into 3 inch pots or larger. This I soak for about 2 days to make sure it is well dampened well into the bark. Repot the Paph so its roots base is covered by at least 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch with bark, assuming they are fairly big plants. This will allow the new roots to grow out under the bark and grow quickly away into the mix. Tap gently to settle in the mix, I then sprinkle a 1/2 teaspoon of SelGrit (the stuff they give the cooks, small pebble size 2 to 3mm) Sprinkle a few pellets of Organ Life, place on regular growing spot and water in well to flush out and dust and too settle in the plant. Then treat as any normal growing Paph. I have being using this simple method for about 12 years or so and works very well for me. Good growing Ron |

See the photo of how I grow on from community pots to the 2 inch sq pots. These are about 3 inches deep and pack nicely on the trays for me. This was taken last year and now all are up into 3 inch pots. Best of luck Ron Last edited by Ron; 10-22-2009 at 04:54 PM. |

Thanks Ron, I am heading outside now. I am sure they will be ok. I have deflasked 3 lots of paphs now so they might be outside from now on so I can deflask the others. I don't know that I can delay it anymore.

Sorry I didn't see this last night. I've been quite busy writing proposals for an opera development program. I'm sure your paphs will be ok. This last batch of bare root paphs I got from Nicky, I had some of them sit for about 5 days before potting them up. They were left in their bags and kept moist and I haven't seen any setbacks so far, no leaf loss or rot.

Thanks everyone, they are looking great in their new pots. Surprised just how big some of the seedlings are, especially the venustum alba's.
