Mottled Leaves

Hey Everybody, Glad to be back! Started a new job a while back, seems like all I do is work, barely have time to take care of the chids.
I was wondering if anyone might know, I have a Psychopsis Mendenhall that had dark mottled leaves when I purchased it months ago, it's doing very well, has put out a new spike and a new growth, lots of new roots and is blooming fine, but the mottling on the leaves is nearly gone, faded.
I thought it might be not quite enough ligh in my eastern window, but I purchased a psychopsis Kalihi the other day and the grower said that when it gets more light, the mottling fades.
Does anyone else have any personal experience with this sort of thing?
I love the plants regardless, they just keep pumping out blooms, about one a month, what's not to love? I just missed the mottling a bit, wondered if anyone knew how to get it back.
Thanks, BJ

I have one that the original 4 leaves had the mottling but the new leaves doesnt have them. I keep it in a south window with my Catts. Maybe to much light?

I have a few with mottled leaves where the mottling seems to fad with age - I assume it's age anyway.

I have one that has been in bright light that hasn't faded at all...

My Psychopsis Mariposa had mottled leaves and also had the red color fade after it bloomed.

I also have a Psychopsis Mendenhall, which I got in April this year.

The leaves are mottled, and have not faded. It gets a lot of light. It has been blooming continuously since I got it, a new bloom is getting ready to open any day now.

I hope you can get an answer to what is the reason for your mottling fading.

Thank you all for your replies! I had just assumed it was fading due to lack of light, not that it doesnt' get enough, but obviously less in my apartment than in the growers greenhouse. It struck me as odd when I bought the kalihi I asked the vendor why the mottling had seemed to fade on it, and he told me he had given it very high light, and that made it fade. I wasn't sure wether I believed him or not, I just can't believe that my window sill gives more light than Jerry's greenhouse.

Yours is probably getting the direct rays of the sun in the window and in Jerry's shade house, the heavy shade cloth filters out direct sun hitting the foliage.

Now that makes sense, I hadn't thought of that at all. Maybe I'll try letting the sheer curtain down, see if they come back. Thanks.
Trinigirl, does yours get direct sunlight?

Pittsburg + winter + east window = no no to blocking any light

The sun is too weak and add the dark gray days through the winter and your plant can use all the sun through the east window it can get. The health of the plant is more important than the foliage.

I have a couple different Psychopsis with mottled foliage - one keeps the mottled foliage and one has foliage that fades and they sit next to each other in the g/h. I chalked it up to genetics.

Mine gets direct sun, for all morning and some dappled midday and afternoon, and none in the evening. Mine is grown outdoors.
