What to do with this crazy Phal?

I am confused with this one. It started forming a new bud at the very top of the spike even before the last flower was gone . It has a very beautiful flower now (pic1) and forming new buds (pic3). But at the same time the 4th and the 5th nods are swallen and about to start the spikes (pic2).....
With the little knowledge I have so far, I think the spikes will not form from the nods of the old spike unless I cut the top off. But it has one flower and forming more...
Well I would like to sit on two chairs with one behind.. and have flowers at the top and on the sides of the spike...
But what would you guys do with something like that???
Thanks.

Some phals (and brilliant purple ones are high on this list) put up *branching* spikes. They bloom off the tip and off the side branches at the same time. That's what you're seeing there, that's all.

Do not cut off tip, don't do anything . Let it do it's thing. BTW, this is the type of phal, that when it gets really big puts up a really glorious show, with lots of flowers on branching spikes, so congrats on having a real beauty.

Thank you so much mehitabel,
It's easy not to do anything!!!!!!! Wow!!!! I am so glad.........
BTW the name of this orchid is Dtps.(Minho Pink x Taisuco Firebird) 'DeLeon'.
I am not sure about the last word; it's not so clear on the tag anymore. But it still has some kind of number 0416-pp1015.
Does anyone know if it's somehow possible to identify the name and the origin of this hybrid by this number, and how?

Yeah, do nothing. Loverly!

I looked up your cross in Orchidwiz-- it isn't named yet. However, both parents are big, saturated, intense purples. Taisuco Firebird is a famous parent with lots of beautiful offspring.

The numbers-- I've seen numbers assigned to both named orchids, and un-named crosses. On named orchids, it can be the cultivar "name"-- sometimes they are re-named with a name instead of a number if they win an award. I have several that as far as I know are still just numbers.

On un-named crosses, my guess would be you'd need the breeder's master entry book to sort that number out. ie that number tells the breeder something like when the cross was made, parents maybe. But it's a code, and without the cipher book you can't crack it.

I did a little bit of looking myself on the web and more closely at the tag.
The word 'Delight' has to be replaced with the word 'DeLeon'......, sorry.
But thank you mehitabel for letting me know about Orchidwiz, I didn't know about this site....

Yes. Those somewhat mini branching Phals can go on and on. Leave the spikes I say. I had one rebloom about three times and now has a keiki that I'm watching.
