Basal keiki set very low, how to repot

Hello again,

This is a phal which has a keiki formed where a spike would normally, but then underneath, there is one below where I would normally fill the medium over it. I already took one other keiki off because it was right next to it and forming oddly as the leaves couldnt stretch out because of the roots. Is there a way to pot this up without losing this one? I cant tell if it has its own roots. It looks like its attached to the bottom of the meristem, and theres roots below the keiki coming from the meristem, but nothing coming right from the keiki.

This is one of those rare occasions when I'd recommend dividing the plant. It's going to be impossible to get the two larger plants at the top down in the mix adequately without burying the smaller one down low. Does the bottom one have sufficient roots?

And just a little term correction, I don't think "meristem" is the term you're looking for. The "meristem" is the place deep inside the crown of the plant consisting of undifferentiated cells.

Yeah wasn't sure about the meristem thing...what is that main stem called? The roots under the keiki seem to be attached to that not the keiki, so I would have to cut the bottom of the stem off, can you do that. If so what is the risk of killing the whole plant? I know my terminology isn't great, let me know if you need clarification.

will this work? I repotted in only coco chips. Thats a 6" pot from Lowes and I drilled 6 lines of holes around the pot. I have the plant staked because it wants to tip over being that the coco chips arent as far up as they would be normally. Thanks again for your help everyone!!
