Driftwood Question

Hi, I have a question on how to remove the salt from a piece of drift wood I have gotten from the beach, I plan on mounting one of my orchids on it but i'm not sure if just soaking it in fresh water is sufficient. I would appreciate any suggestions. THANKS Hank.....
