No new growth on Den speciosums???

I have three Den speciosums.

The first (full size, about 10 canes) I bought in March, and put it in the fork of a poinciana tree, It grew some new roots a couple of months ago, but the canes are getting droopier, and no new growth.

The second I bought in July (full size about 7 canes), with 5 spikes. I repotted, 4 spikes died. Also no new growth, and the canes are looking wiltier.

The third (very large, speciosum x superbeins). Flowered profusely, I repotted, but no new growth.

I also have a delicatum (speciosum x kingianum) that has no new growth.

I heard dendrobium beetles mentioned a while ago, so I gave them a good check over, but I can't see any sign of them.

I usually grow dens really well. Speciosums grow naturally in the wild near here. Why haven't my speciosums got any new growth? Are they particularly susceptible to being moved or repotted?

First question I would ask is what type of potting mix are you useing.
Second is what type of fertilizer are you useing.
I find that if you rip them out of the old pot and repott using 15 mm orchid bark they usually fly away with new growth within a few weeks.
Mine have been throwing up new canes for the last month or so.
Cheerio

G'Day Tansy

Have been following Ted Walmsley of Kempsey who commercially grows dendrobium speciosums. His notes are at Dendrobium Speciosum Ted Walmsley Way
and seem to work. Hope this helps.

Cheers
Bernie

The two that are repotted in pots are in a large bark mix.

The one in the tree has had liquid fert before winter, but none since.

I will give them a dose of fert. I have some Organic life stuff. I am a bit tentative as I am worried about burning the roots.

Also I am wondering if the are getting too much sun?? The one in the poinciana, has been exposed to pretty much full sun all winter, as the tree is deciduous. One potted one has been in a fair bit of sun also.

I'm just surprised that none have new growth, as all the super-neglected king orchids you see in trees around here have new growths all over them.
