Aussie, I think you should look for an orchid society in your area, maybe thru a local orchid nursery, so you can have a little help in putting all these plants into the right microclimate at the very start. Are you going to be growing out doors? And if so, where do you live and what is the climate like? We have a few other aussies here, so they may offer some pointers if they know where you are. Can you update your profile with your location?

Welcome, Aussie. You are going to be one busy orchid person I look forward to seeing photos of your new plants once you are able to post them.

I love your parrot photo. Do you have them visiting your backyard? I have a pet African parrot (indoor pet--too cold here in the north to be otherwise!) who keeps us laughing.

It's a Rainbow Lorikeet Marcia.

I have them come into my gum trees every Spring when they flower.

Noisy little characters, messy too, "in more ways than one".

I'm looking forward to seeing those photos, Aussie. You must be a pro! I'm waiting for retirement to hone my photography skills.

Anton, rainbow lorikeets are beautiful. I have read about their 'messiness.' Such beauties have to be forgiven their foibles. Parrots are such smart and clever birds. Noisy, too!
