my first spike ever! :)

so here i was thinking that one of my 6 phals would eventually respike first and that my den was slowly dying. but now, the phals are just kinda sitting there while my den has decided to bloom! this is my first ever rebloom on any of my plants. i waited a couple weeks to make sure this was a) really a spike and b) that i wouldn't kill it. so far so good plant is a Den. Hollywood.

Isn't it exciting to get your first spike? Your plant looks so healthy. Nice and shiny. It definitely likes the way you treat it.

thanks! when i first repotted it into the s/h material, it sulked big time. it dropped several leaves in a big hurry (all canes had at least one leaf before this) and it just looked sickly. it seems to have recovered now.

thanks everybody! i thought i'd never get a rebloom.

GREAT job!! Congratulations!!

If you can get a den to bloom...it's just a matter of time before those phals start bloomin' too.

first bloom finally opened today the only problem with this plant is it's almost impossible to get the true color of the flower in a photo. i tried all sorts of lighting and flash settings and whatnot, and i either got it washed out (overexposed) or too dark to see. anyway, the best i can do. much prettier in person, however:

bwahahaha! fortunately, no, i'm moving the other direction to laramie, wy. starting school next week. halp! but yes, it's a good thing i'm moving far away. my uncle gave me some money for my bday and told me i could use it for whatever i want...."ya know, orchids and stuff"....gee, he's the one that started me on my orchid addiction, then he continues to fuel it. now that i'll be further from louisville, i might be safe? at least until the DOS fall show in october hehe!
