| New Phal Growth - What is it??? What would anyone guess is coming out of the crown of my phal? I must say that this is a first - seems like an odd place for a flower spike??? Is this a keiki growing here??? Never heard of that. I've had phals for a few years now and this is the first that has done this. Stay tuned....... ![]() |

| It looks like new leaf growth. Usually this occurs when the newest actively growing leaf is damaged. You will often see this when you have crown rot that does not cause the entire plant to fall off. I would guess that the newest leaf was damaged by a slight over-watering or bitted off by a bug. The damage would have been very slight and the plant will recover so fast you will hardly notice a break in the growth.

| Since this point the plant will develop a second crown? I think this could happened to one of my phals, which is looking like Siamese twins, but recently, in fact today, I discovered that there is a mother plant with her daughter attached to her, as a ramification from the axis. This phal has 15 leaves, in full bloom now with 2 spikes for the second time this year - and (!)....starting something again, which is probably an other spike. Aniko. |
