Help!! I had two lovely orchids, not sure which type, with beautiful bloods. The bloods eventually died, as I was told they would, but I thought they would grow again. I got some orchid feed, and one developed new roots, and the other developed new leaves but no new flowers. The chipping things they are planted in are going black and now the leaves have dropped off one. Are they salvagable? Would appreciate any help.

Smiling--most of us have been there. Not sure if "taps" are in order?? More information is needed about type of orchid. But first---read-read-read--much information free on growing orchids is right here on this site and on the internet. After you know the basics the moderators will really be able to assist you. You probably overwatered, repot, triming away old dead roots and learn about your orchid and its needs. :-) G.

Hi Sueian. I looks like you may have killed the roots by over watering. You may want to read this post of mine on a method to avoid over watering. Skewer use for watering of orchids For the one that lost leaves, there is nothing to do but wait a few months to see if it wants to start a new growth at the base. But if it has lost both leaves and roots, the chances are very poor. You will have to work soon to prevent the second one from doing the same. I would stop watering both until you can use the above method to determine the true wetness in the pots. Let us know as soon as possible what type you have. Some of the threads have pictures to help you identify your plants. AND, a very few types are deciduous, and maybe there is nothing wrong with your plant at all, but until we know what kind, we can't judge. A digital picture would help, and you may have to send it to one of us directly, since new posters generally have a problem posting pictures. Cynthia
