Mayers Orchid medium recipe did this

For all of you phal lovers that are looking for a nice medium mix for your phals. I don't have the recipe, but member mayers can tell you. He sent me a nice sample that I planted this phal in. The phal spiked after and is very healthy. Here is a pic of the one bloom that is open so far. Thanks Mike!!Tara

Tara: Nice job. I like the color of that phal. Been using Mike's recipe for the past couple years with wonderful success. It's not only a nice mix, but takes the guesswork out of watering. Looks like it's working well for you too.
Thanks Mike.

Mike, there is a bit of controversey over the name of that phal. It is only a NOID because all of my tags were thrown away by accident. When I looked up my purchase order it says Baldans Melon Select. NOW I purchased the Baldan's Merlot Prince at the same time. First off I thin I have the two mixed up this one looks more like a Merlot Prince to me, but I swear it had the Melon Select tag on it as I marked the pot it is a huge phal too. Second part in my other post (New Bloomers) Kevin mentioned a red flag with these names. Baldans has them as Baldan's Phal Hybrid Melon Select etc. Anyway I have an email into Baldans to help me figure out what is up with these orchids names. Check my New Bloomer post and you will see the debate. Tara

What ever the name is, it is a gorgeous color. I think I need to try that mix.

I like this mix for many reasons, so much easier to tell when you need to water with the mix and sadlly I only have 2 phals in it. The other one is budding and healthy too, will post pics of that it is a mini. Tara

It's a sticky in the potting and media section. I found it with a search for "mayres" postings.
