Brita filters only remove heavy metals and organic compounds but not dissolved ions. So if you have a large amount of calcium in your water it will not remove these things. distilled R/O water is better. IMO it is more cost effective to just use tap water and flush with distilled when calcium starts building up.

I just use tap water. If we had enough rain to bother collecting, I would use that.lol. I think it would evaporate faster that it would collect.

I use what little rain water I manage to collect in an old kitchen trash bin and unfiltered, untreated tap water. I know lots of people who use RO water. I would not recommend distilled water. In my opinion, filtered water is not different enough from tap water to make any noticeable difference in orchids.
