Thumbs up Orchid rescues

ok, here's my idea- we can all use this thread to talk about all the sad, pitiful, neglected orchid rescues we've come across...

Let's show some before & after photos!!!! (I wanna see how great these little plants have turned around )

Keep your fingers crossed!!! And we'll see many more little buggers get rehabed!

I'll start----- here's my unknown phal I rescued from a coworker- burt to a crisp and very neglected...now it's growing new leaves and new roots and hopefully in a few months I'll finally see what color it is with some new blooms if i'm lucky...

Interesting thread. I must admit that I'm not into purchasing orchids to be rescued, however, I've had a few "in my own care" that needed lots of help.

I'm always encouraged when I can bring back one from near death, but it's usually a long, long process. Also, to be admitted here, is the fact that I have failed more than succeeded, sometimes just from running out of patience.

I received a couple Momilani Rainbow catts in December of 2006. They were frozen almost solid. The vendor replaced them. I managed to save one of the severly frozen catts and the other died.

1st pic - Jan 2007 - severly damaged leaves. By May 1st of that year, although it looked awful, it started new growth.

2nd pic - Jan 2009 - finally a few flowers. I was a bit disappointed that the flowers were quite small and not particularly the color expected; however, I kept it alive. It took 2 years, but I guess the wait was rewarding.

great saves, both! I have some of my own, as soon as they stopped flowering, the roots just disappeared, so I repoted them in smaller pots (actually plastic cups) and now they're doing great, new leaves and roots all over the place . I can post a picture how they look now, but I have to wait for the camera batteries to charge.
